Windows 7 change drive letter invalid parameter

I still get 'Parameter is incorrect' when I try to use letter C. I wasn't too concerned about this as I had already made up my mind to reinstall Windows 7 after making bios changes to disable all drives except the SSD and force a boot from the Win 7 installation DVD. This reinstallation has now completed and the new system partition on the SSD has drive letter C.

A reboot with the other disks enabled shows the original OS disk has now been reassigned the next available drive letter. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. What else could be causing this problem? This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. I have the same question Don't worry, refer to the following part, we will demonstate how to change drive letter in this situation.

Windows Disk Management cannot change drive letter in some situations as we mentioned above. Thus, we need to find a third-party partition tool to help us, such as AOMEI Partition Assistant , which has very simple operation and multiple functions. Make sure that there is no program processing. If the system has been installed on a partition, you will not be allowed to change the drive letter. Step 1. Right click the partition you want to change the drive letter.

Step 2. After the step1, it will open a pop-up window and you can choose any drive letter you want. Step 3. Here, we successfully changed the drive letter from G to H. This is how to deal with "can't change drive letter" in Windows 10, 8, 7.
